Calories in Swordfish

Carrying on with our ‘Calories in things’ series I thought we could take a look at one of my favourite foods – swordfish, and see just how healthy or unhealthy it is by looking at the calories in swordfish.

As ever how many calories in swordfish is very much dependent on how you cook it, and there is no point us second guessing that. So instead we focus on how many calories in raw swordfish steak rather than one you have cooked.

So when you are cooking the swordfish, whether it be flash frying, baking, barbecuing or what ever, make sure that you are adding in the calories for the method and other ingredients.

Calories in Swordfish

So how many calories are there in a swordfish steak?

All below information is per typical steak size – (6 Ozs, 171g)

Calories – 210Kcal

Total Fat – 7g

of which saturates – 2g

Other facts it also has 65mg of cholesterol, 150mg of sodium and 34.0g of protein (perfect for high protein diets)

Weight Watchers

For those of you that are trying to lose weight by doing the weight watchers diet you will also be interested to know the points value of swordfish. So using the Weight watchers calculator that gives us

3.5 points

Pretty good for such a filling cut of fish. Certainly a useful addition to anyone who is following the weight watchers program – especially given the protein values for anyone who is also using the gym or struggling to get low point protein options.
