How Many Calories Does Walking A Mile Burn?

We have repeatedly sung the praises of walking as a method of losing weight here on the Small Belly Guide. But one question we haven’t yet addressed is just how many calories does walking a mile burn? How much weight loss can you expect from walking on a regular basis.

Well not wanting to let you down I thought we should address it…

But we can’t. Sounds like a wuss out I know but the fact is that it is different for everyone. Different factors can dramatically alter how many calories you burn when walking a mile. Things like how much you weigh and how fast you walk can alter the amount of weight you will lose by walking.

But so that we are not completely wimping out on you here is a little bit of information as answer to the question how many calories does walking a mile burn?

If you walk at 3 miles per hour and weigh 210 pounds then you will burn 138 calories. When you consider most ‘decent’ walk is 5 miles or so that is a LOT of calories that you burn simply by taking a stroll in the countryside. Which is EXACTLY why we suggest walking as a method of losing weight. It’s effective, it burns calories and it gets you healthier.

That is 690 calories per walk… which will make a big dent on anyones wasitline!
