  • Music. Use an MP3 player or the like to listen to your favorite music as you walk. It can help put you in a happier place. Use the music to help turn your mind off if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of life, or to help motivate you as you walk.
  • Walk with a Friend. It is always great to catch up with friends, but finding time to do so is hard, as is finding time to exercise. By walking with a friend you find the perfect way of combining the two, giving you great entertainment and exercise all at once!
  • Learn a language. MP3′s aren’t just about music these days. You can use them to learn languages, business courses and pretty much anything else. Learning whilst you walk can help your fitness, brain and job prospects – not to mention waistline.
  • Bring a pet with you. Walking is often more fun when you are watching a dog run around like a mad thing. The enjoyment is easily transferred. Snakes are less effective however.
  • Join a group. Much like bringing a friend it lets you socialize whilst walking, only this time you are meeting new people – and possibly adding a sense of competition to the walk. Great if you want to push yourself.
  • Vary where you walk. Sometimes use the countryside, others towns. Perhaps a walk through a park one day, along a rover the next. Keep things varied to stop it being samey and boring.

And thats just for starters. I am sure you can think of plenty more ways to turn walking for weight loss into a fun pursuit, and fight away the tedium that comes from exercising as part of a weight loss program.
